The reason are 2 different publishers for physical / digital. Also apparently the physical version doesn't get patches, while the digital version does. I've also heard that the digital and physical versions of DP1 are separate, so savegames do not carry over.
My Switch version of DP1 crashed about 3-4 times during 1 playthrough, while DP2 hasn't crashed at all. Unless you got the PC version fixed, their ranking was I saw a video of someone comparing all DP1 versions. Playing as FBI detective Aaliyah Davis, you're tasked with interviewing Morgan about one of his old murder cases, a story not too dissimilar to the events of the first game. I'll definitely play through it a 2nd time Where the original Deadly Premonition begins with protagonist FBI agent Francis York Morgan confronting supernatural enemies in a nightmarish world, DP2 starts off more slowly. Overall I am happy with the game and how it fits into the overall story. Also, I was disappointed that I could not look through windows and stalk people. DP2 feels like they wrote a story and then carved out everything but the basic structure. Gameplay wise the framerate was no issue for me, but a few side quests felt dull, especially since the rewards are forgettable. One of my favorite parts of DP1 is that they had a story they wanted to tell and they were uncompromising in portraying that to the player. Story wise there are a few unanswered questions I would've liked to be solved, but overall the characters are quite good and the main cast was believable to me. I will not get into details, but you can see that the cases of DP1 and 2 really changed Zach. I really liked how DP1 and 2 were connected.
I had my first playthrough today and was emotionally touched at the end.
